Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image without stretching it?

Leave "Lock aspect ratio" switched on and change only the width or the height. The other side is calculated for you, so the picture keeps its shape.

Can I make an image bigger?

Yes, but enlarging cannot add detail that was not in the original, so the result may look soft. Resizing down always keeps images sharp.

What size should a profile picture be?

A square image is safest. 400 x 400 pixels works well for most profile pictures, and 1080 x 1080 suits square social media posts. Both are in the presets.

Does resizing reduce the file size?

Making an image smaller in pixels usually reduces its file size a lot. To shrink it further, use our Compress Image tool afterwards.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens in your browser and your images stay on your device.
